Killin' Time

A couple different games this weekend had to be rescheduled so that they didn't conflict with other sporting events, and ended up leaving some road teams with a little extra time on their hands.

Notre Dame asked Lake Superior to play their series on Thursday and Friday rather than Friday and Saturday so that it didn't conflict with Notre Dame's football game against Navy. In return, Lake Superior's team got tickets to watch Notre Dame's historic loss to Navy.

Denver got the entire day off on Saturday in their series with Minnesota. I didn't hear of any formal plans, but Denver coach George Gwozdecky mentioned in his post-game show that it would be a good opportunity for players to see their family, or catch up on studying, or watch some football. Meanwhile, Gwozdecky, and Minnesota assistant coach John Hill both went to New Hope to watch the Nike/Bauer National Invitational Tournament.

Minnesota State's second game against Alabama-Huntsville had to be moved from 7pm to 3pm to accommodate the Huntville Havoc's game against the Knoxville Ice Bears in thrilling SPHL action. That left the Mavericks with a free Saturday night in Huntsville before their plane left the next morning. The Mavericks went out to the movies to see the film American Gangster last night, before flying back to Minnesota on Sunday.

Anyone notice how Don Lucia is losing it big time at Minnesota? He can't keep top notch players as many of the player can't stand his coaching style. Lucia is over rated and thinks all he has to do is sit behind the bench and yell at his kids. Look at his recent playoff record. He did nothing to scout his opponents and his team got drilled. He has become a lazy, rest oh his laurels recruiter. This program is going south faster than the Minnesota Twins. FIRE LUCIA NOW!!!!

NHL programs can't stand his style either as many go to the next level unprepared

I love how all of a sudden Lucia is on the same level of ineptitude as Jutting just because they're off to a bed start. Gimme a break. Funny, I didn't hear any players complaining about his coaching style when they were winning the McNaughton the past two years. Most of those players who left were ready to leave. Yeah, they were some unexpected departures, but that is going to happen. Everyone needs to relax, including Gopher fans. Yeah, it's a bad start, but it's early November. There's nothing wrong with Lucia or the direction of the program.

I'm a Sioux fan to the core and annon 7:53 is a total retard. The Gophers are young, just like the Sioux have been the past few years. TDon will do okay...pretty sure he knows what he's doing

Last time I checked the U of M had won the regular season league title twice in a row and the Final Five last year. I hardly say that because they started 0-4 in the WCHA that he is "losing it big time". Quit biting your fingernails....

Minnesota should be doing much better than they have shown. As for NHL prep, I dont think that he is doing a great job with Okposo or Wheeler. I would say that Wheeler is way behind schedule in terms of his development.

Oh man, what I'd give for a free Saturday night in Huntsville Alabama...

I wonder what all the "Fire Lucia" anon commenters on here have as the team they follow....hmmmm. Identify yourself and then we'll do a coach success comparison.
That's what I thought...

I wonder where all these "Fire Lucia" idiots were last time he won a national title.

Silly Goofer liberals......so sensitive. "What would Paul do"?

I love how people make comments when they probably don't even follow the Gophers. Talk to Tyler Hirsch, Eric Johnson or Jim O'brien. In a year talk to Okposo or Wheeler. Or ask Jamie McBain. Lucia is NOT well liked. Just why is Lucia no longer getting the rock solid recruits.......??? Minnesota should be near the top of the league every year as player used to dream of wearing the maroon and gold...not any more.

Well, Tyler Hirsch is AWOL somewhere I'm sure...don't think you can trust anything he says. Eric Johnson was going to leave no metter who the coach was, and Jim O'brien is probably one of those selfish "me" players who didn't like what he heard and thus decided to go somewhere where he could control things more...whiny kid.

Okposo and Wheeler are fine with Lucia, and last I check UM was still doing pretty well in the recruiting category. McBain plays for Wisconsin...who cares what he thinks.

By the way, there are people that post here that are not Gopher fans wearing the maroon and gold goggles...

and anon 1204 theres those of you here who are wearing those glasses

No doubt Lucia handled the Hirsch incident poorly. Some think Lucia can do no wrong as his past record is pretty impressive. But there comes a time when you lose the hunger and you no longer compete for the top athlete, you expect them to come pounding on your door. I fear Lucia is at that point. He should have one of the top 2 or 3 recruiting classes every year. As of late and looking forward a year or so, that is not the case. It is obvious by the team they put on the ice this year. Denvers freshmen destroyed Minnesotas. Time for a change to get someone in here that is hungry.

I heard Lucia never even recruited McBain....that was a mistake.

He didn't recruit McDonaugh either until AFTER he commited to Wisconsin. SNAKE.
