Drygas Appointed

Former Alaska Nanooks hockey player Erik Drygas was appointed to the University of Alaska Board of Regents by Alaska's Governor. I don't know much about what a Regent actually does, though I do know that if you play your cards right, it can be profitable. I believe the state constitution also stipulates that he receive his own Ulu and 15% off at the Anchorage Chili's.

Drygas' career was cut short shortly before his sophomore season when he suffered a neck injury after falling head first into the boards in a practice in 1996. Since then, Drygas has been an important member of the Fairbanks community. He's coached hockey at West Valley High School and provides color commentary for radio broadcasts of Nanook hockey games.

In terms of profitability I'd think misappropriating hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grants in the manner that the previous regent (the cat that Erik is replacing) did would be far more profitable than letting someone sell your crappy bowl rings.

And oh yeah ...

Along with the Ulu you get an honorary Oosik.
