Lauridsen Cleared

St. Cloud got some good news today as Danish defenseman Oliver Lauridsen was finally cleared to play by the NCAA, after missing the team's first four games while in NCAA Clearinghouse Purgatory. Assuming Laudridsen lives up to the hype many Husky fans are showering him with, missing those four games shouldn't affect his Hobey Baker candidacy.

Lauridsen may not be a miracle-worker, but he should certainly be an upgrade for the Huskies' defense.

He's been hyped for his size, toughness and having a mean streak.
That doesn't exactly equal Hobey's so quit exaggerating.

he was kidding, making a point that expectations are high for the young man, quit being so serious.

Han er flink til ishockey! Woo!

Expectations are awfully high for the Glacier. Rumor has it he's really a slow footed, slow thinking version of Road Cone Finley.

Husky fans are excited that we are able to play a d-man with some size and toughness. Hell, that hasn't happened since Jeff Finger. Why wouldn't we be excited?

9:10---How exactly do you know he's tough? Going up against the Huskies in practice really isn't the best measuring stick of a players toughness.

I suppose with a name like Oliver he probably got picked on a lot when he was a kid.

Every scouting report on this kid has said this kid is mean and loves to play physical, I'd say that equals toughness.
Also, he's not a Finley type, he can skate.

"Hedican told Motzko he liked what he saw out of Lauridsen, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound native of Denmark. Hedican said Lauridsen skates well and he also has a little bit of that confidence he expects from really good defensemen.

6>1: What a genius you are...resorting to name attacks. Nice.

I'm guessing since Luaridsen is 6'6" he is the "much" of the now copyrighted "much improved" St. Clown defense. Now all we're waiting for is the improved.

Welcome aboard Cousin Oliver. I guess this means St. Clown has officially jumped the shark.

"Every scouting report on this kid" all one of them apparently.

Sounds like he may be a poor man's Stu Bickel.

Anon 1:23-- How soon before we see the Britany Speer's kid with his "Quit picking on Oliver" video? Boo hoo, somebody called Ollie a bad name.

After all, everybody knows St. Clown fans never do that.

I have never seen him play, so I will hold back any accolades or rips on this guy. We will let his play do the talking. I have seen way too many "saviors" disappoint, and way too many "busts" turn out good careers to proclaim anything.

However, I would agree some more toughness and physical play on the blue line would be most welcome!
