Two D Jump to OHL

A couple of defensemen will be making the jump to the Ontario Hockey League next season.

Des Moines Buccaneers defenseman Brad Walch will be playing with the Saginaw Spirit. Walch received some college interest last season, but is a Saginaw native, so he will be playing close to home.

NTDP defenseman Bjorn Krupp signed with the Belleville Bulls. Krupp, and his father Uwe, didn't feel that Bjorn received enough playing time with the NTDP last season.

Also, NTDP forward and Michigan State recruit Zach Golembiewski has left the NTDP and will be playing for the Indiana Ice next season.

I have said this for years. The NTDP has 8D for their team. That is stupid. How are you supposed to develop on a team with 8D? At that level you should be playing big 4 minutes like Zach Bogosian in the O or Nick Petrecki in the USHL. Hopefully USAH learns something from this.

I can bash the NTDP all day and it doesn't mean a thing. However, I think everyone can agree that there is something wrong when the numbers are growing in the defection department.

Anyone know when the NTDP U-18 roster is coming out? Or anyone have a rough idea on who will be on the team? Seems more and more are leaving the program or turning down invites.

Henrion for Golembiewski, Advantage NTDP

Krupp out, Golembiewski out, Henrion (F) in. That's it.

Chris McCarthy (F) also in at NTDP. That's 1D and 1F out, 2 F's in. Are they only going with 7 D this year?

Beau Schmitz is also gone.

I'll bet the NTDP like this.....the I's in the TEAM leave, and they get better developed players who can understand the philosophy- that it takes 20 kid's to earn glory! That is a great trade off in any game.

Plus the NTDP will sit your kid while they bring in high school players,NAHL,USHL players for Int'l games & playoffs. Believe me.

Indiana should have a interesting team this year. The first game they play will be against the NTDP pitting Golembiewski against his former team.

Defenseman John Ramage is also in from St. Louis NAHL.

Golembiewski was also their 3rd leading scorer. hard to believe henrion is an upgrade.

Check pointstreak for roster, the day of their 1st game, Sept 13.

Pouty Biewski, would be 2nd fiddle to Morin, Bourque, etc. His PP time would suffer. don't feel sorry for him.

Golembiewski got into coaches doghouse for his lack of work ethic and inability to work on his weaknesses. Was told he might not to Worlds so he jumped.

After having played with and against many of these kids, Henrion is truly better than Goliembewski. However, Mccarthy is a down grade to who ever he will be replacing. Ramage is better than Krupp. My in sight, but it doesn't really matter because this team could potentially set the record for NHL draft picks. THat is how talented they are.

the U17 NTDP year should be about developing players. 8 defensemen, 2 PP units, with forwards playing the point leaves very little ice to go around for these kids to learn how to play in these key situations. The only D that played consistently on the PP were Fowler and Schmitz. Fine, if you're talking about the last period in a tight game, you throw your studs out there, but not start 90% of the games like that. Not much developing going on for the other 6 sitting and watching...

In my opinion when players are leaving and moving on the NDTP is doing its job. they should recieve credit for development not critsism for advancing careers.

I think you need to ask yourself why the players are moving on. Also note that the NTDP is losing players that it would rather keep.
Changes need to be made.

"You Can't always Get What You Want" You can try sometime, but playing time is limited. NTDP is the USA Hockey mechanism for development. They review and tweek it every year. USA Hockey is a lot better off with it than without it. It is deveoping high caliber players, coaches, and models for others to follow. Ken Martel is doing a great job, moving the coaching program forward. You will see greater things in the future.

show me any organization that doesn't have some "defection"; it happens every year to every organization, whether it's Duke b-ball, NE Pats football, or BC hockey. The sad fact of the matter is that too many young athletes ([mis]guided by their parent/agents) don't realize that they have the chance to be part of something bigger than themselves. Whether it's an upgrade or not is so subjective, the winners are the ones that stayed and persevered whether they were "featured" on power plays or not.

Anonymous @ 12:09 is right on; if the MN boys are so dominant, why didn't the MN laden (6/19) Hlinka tourney team come back with more than one victory; that team had 5 players in this Blog's top eleven nhl fantasy picks. Absent injuries, the NTDP u18s will put up big numbers, both in terms of their junior/D1 schedule and in terms of next June's draft.

Actually 6 of the top 11 are Minnesota if you count Jordan. And only 3 of top 11 were in Czech. It was the head coach. He hardly played the MN guys to what thier skills are. If he would have played the 7 returners like Coach Cooper did the previous year and took Birkholz,Pitlick and Schmidt like USA hockey has in the past instead of guys who never played Internationally before ever; it would have been medal round easy.
I would send an all MN team every year and top 3 MN high school coaches and we would have a medal every year. They are team players non premodonas
