O'Keefe Signs

Ferris State junior goalie Mitch O'Keefe has signed with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL, giving up his final year of eligibility.

O'Keefe had the best year of his collegiate career this year. He posted a 2.28 goals against average and .920 save percentage in 24 games.

He'll likely be replaced in net by Pat Nagle, who played in 16 games as a freshman this year. The Bulldogs are also bringing in goalie Taylor Nelson from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

according to the Ferris State website, O'Keefe did not have any eligibility left due to his age.

Derek MacIntyre is also coming back as a senior.

O'keefe enrolled full time at a college in canada before coming to Ferris (I don't think he played there.) and due to the rules lost a year of eligibility. I was surprised to here this about half way through the season. Although it does take time to get news on the program, coverage of Ferris hockey is weak at best. I was looking foward to Ferris having him in net for another year.
