The early rounds of the Minnesota High School sectionals provide some good games, but it isn't exactly known for shocking upsets. There was one, however, in Section 5AA, when 7th seed Rogers/Zimmerman knocked off second seed Champlin Park by a score of 3-0.
Champlin Park had a surprisingly good season, but was one of the weaker two seeds in the state. They earned the two season by virtue of a pair of 2-1 wins over 3rd seed Blaine, but computer rankings had them as low as fourth in the section.
Rogers' win is even more impressive considering they were without the services of star defenseman Nick Jensen, who was out due to injury. Rogers will now take on Blaine in the section semifinals on Wednesday.
