Kolarik Out with Injury

Michigan's Chad Kolarik played one of the better games of his collegiate career last Friday night when he scored all four of Michigan's goals in their 4-2 win over Lake Superior. Some suggested that Kolarik may have even put himself into consideration for the Hobey Baker Award after his performance.

Any Hobey talk was short-lived however, as the following night, while trying to block a shot, Kolarik suffered a groin injury that forced him to leave the game. Early reports are that he will miss a few weeks due to the injury, though the severity isn't known yet.

The Wolverines finish out their regular season with a tough series against Michigan State, and a home-and-home series against the suddenly dangerous Ferris State. The good news for Michigan is that Miami's slip-up against Ferris State gives Michigan a little breathing room for the CCHA title. The Wolverines only need four points in those final four games to clinch a CCHA title.

Once the regular season ends, the Wolverines are guaranteed a bye during the first round of the CCHA playoffs, and shouldn't face too tough of a test in the quarterfinal round of the CCHA playoffs, though a few teams lurking at the bottom of the standings have given the Wolverines trouble this year. All told, Kolarik should have almost a full month to recover, before the Wolverines will really need his services.

UPDATE: Out 4-5-ish weeks with a hamstring injury.

How the hell does a player with a 2 week injury make a headline? This belongs on the Michigan thread on the uscho board Chris. I don't think any non-Michigan cares about a rat's ass about a two week injury.

Who's he??? I am going to guess that he plays in the league that lacks solid goaltending.

If you don't like what's posted, don't read beyond the headline....

Important because, this is a serious injury. This kid is 4th nationally and 2nd in CCHA scoring.
M will be challenged to replace his offense down the stretch.

Well color me surprised

"suddenly dangerous ferris state"

That about sums it up. The CCHA, Michigan aside, is a joke.

I had to because I thought it was a season ending injury. If you put every ticky tacky injury team by team this site would be ridiculous. It's just another way off noting to everyone that Michigan swept this weekend.

wcha is terribly overrated. kolarik is better than any player in wcha.

Why are so many of the comments so childish and petty? This is a frickin' blog after all and not a major newspaper.

He's going to write about whatever the heck he wants to write about. If you like it great, if not then just shut up and move along.

Ruegsegger was a much bigger loss to injury for to Denver especially since Trotter left. Any time you have injured abdominal muscles it is a lengthy recovery and some DU fans are kidding themselves if they think he will bounce back quickly. Funny that you cover a may be out for instead of a will be out for. I would take him over your Kolslaw any day.

Michigan would blow the doors off of Denver with or without Kolarik

I watched the game and saw him plant his skate in the ice and then writhe in pain. His team was on the penalty kill, and he managed to get up and try to block a shot. Amazing leadership.

I thought for sure he tore his ACL or at least sprained his knee, but I'm glad to see it won't need surgery.

Thanks for the update, I am one fan who appreciates it!
