Hobey Watch

My Top 3
1. Kevin Porter
2. Bryan Marshall
3. Ryan Jones

After a big weekend with lots of room for potential shifting, my top 3 remains the same. Porter stayed at the top with a great weekend. Jeff Zatkoff had a rough weekend, keeping him off the list. One interesting note is that a tough weekend for Zatkoff allowed North Dakota's J-P Lamoureux to become the top goalie statistically. When he's playing well, Lamoureux is probably one of the best goalies in the country, even if some of his theatrics in net are a bit distasteful.

INCH Hobey Tracker

Is here.

Kevin Porter regains the top spot from Nathan Gerbe. INCH had a podcast this week in which they talk up Gerbe in the first half, and bemoan players who take cheap shots without facing consequences in the second half.

CSTV didn't do a Hobey Tracker this week, but they did have a chat in which they discussed Hobey candidates.

If players that score goals can pump their fists, and jump up off the glass, why can't goalies show their emotions too?

if a player can skaye around and pump their fists and jump against te boards then a goaie can do whatever the hell he wants....like a batter watching their homerun but why cant the pitcher stare the batter down when they strike them out

Lammy 4 hobey - numbers dont lie

dont hate on phil and the sioux because they knock your punk ass michigan team out of the tourney every year...hope we play them again this yea and make it a trifecta BOUNCING so red ass can go off in the sunset..go sioux, i dont mind mich but we own them, miami is a friken joke all around

I'm a Sioux fan and I'm embarrassed at the stupidity/arrogance that some of these people have. It's obvious UND SAID didn't actually go to UND because he would have gained some writing skills while there.

exactly, those arent sioux fans. probably dirty gopher fans. phil 4 hobey!! nice blog you have here!! go sioux this weekend

Phil is a little lacking in the sportsmanship department. If that was the reason TJ Hensick didn't get the Hobey last season it should be the deciding factor against JP "Luganis" Lamaroux this year.

A guy that DIVES like Lammy doesn't deserve the Hobey plain and simple. He is good but he is a PUNK.

phil does dive, no doubt but thats different than getting 10 min game misconducts in ncaa regional play or any other game. hes a good guy, just does what he does. has nothing to do with sportmanship for a hobey. arrests and on ice fighting and so forth can harm you in the hobey. phil isnt a bad guy at all. hensick isnt either but different situations. is the sioux win out he will for sure be in the top 3 with gerbe/porter or jones for sure. his numbers speak for themself.

hey tornado??

have you ever met phil? im guessing not. hes a hell of a guy and player and does a lot for the community so hes a punk ey?? sorry. loose statements like that are childish..thats like me saying hensick is a punk, ive never met the guy and hes probably a nice guy. too many a holes on boards that talk sht behind a keyboard...go wcha, ccha had their 1 in 9 year moment last year with a solid state team but its back to dominance again for the wcha

I posted at 3:45 and my point continues to get proven.

Oh The Gophs aren't playing this weekend, so you can't do your gay little weekend preview... can't pick a different team to lose in the Gambletron 2000?

Douche Bag!

Um he didn't do the weekend preview because he didn't have the time and because my sister didn't do a good enough job of guilting him into it. It had nothing to do with the Gophers. Remember, the Earth doesn't revolve around them anymore. ;)

WCHA @5:10, If you really think that sportsmanship has nothing to do with the Hobey Baker Award you really have no idea why the award exists. Go to the official site and read up on the award. Find out about the real Hobey Baker. You may actually learn something today.

True, I have never met JP Lamareoux but I have seen him play for the last four seasons. He falls short in the sportsmanship department to the point of not being a serious contender. Same for Gerbe in my opinion. Oshie too for that matter.

Character counts and by having serious deficiencies a good player disqualifies himself by his own behavior. One of lifes many hard lessons.

Besides, there are other more deserving players anywhay.

How many Hobey Baker winners go on to dominate in the NHL?? It's no different than the Heisman Trophy....

Neal Broten did.
