Apparently in addition to North Dakota's fight with Wisconsin on Saturday night, there was a bit of violence directed towards Wisconsin's mascot.
Before the game on Saturday, North Dakota defenseman Joe Finley slashed Bucky Badger in the shin, as Bucky was trying to leave the ice.
WCHA commissioner Bruce McLeod reviewed tape of the incident, and stated that Finely will have to write an apology letter to David Blanchard, who wears the vaunted Badger costume.
First off, I think it would have been hilarious if, as on the TV show "Cavemen", the person inside the mascot costume ended up being female. (I've referenced some ridiculous stuff on here, but I've never been more embarassed than right now, referencing "Cavemen")
Second, I think Finley should skip the apology letter, and instead make a Michael Scott-esque apology video. Having studied them, I think there are three main keys:
1. Make sure it is directed by a woman. These things require a woman's touch.
2. Do not let them make you an escapegoat.
3. And I cannot stress this enough: make sure you give them an ultimatum. They always give an ultimatum in the movies.

Slashing a mascot = the classy.
stating the obvious = the smarty
Well maybe if UND fans didn't brag about how classy their program is, the obvious wouldn't need to be said.
Anyone else find it amusing to have fans from programs whose players over the years haven't been classy calling out fans of another fanbase as not being classy?
I can name players and acts by teams over the last few years that haven't been classy enough so that no team is exempt. What point would that prove?
Seriously, what Finley did wasn't smart. He let a stupid mascot get the better of him. I'm surprised it is an apology letter and not a 1 game suspension, but still...
Let's end the finger pointing. We've all had our teams do classless acts in the past. Making a big stink about it is only going to raise dust.
I think Joe RoadCone ought to follow Chris' advice and forego writing the letter of apology as directed by the WCHA commish.
He should show that not only is he a big time draft pick but that the UND program is bigger than such little things.
Please Joe. Don't write the letter. Please.
Maybe Finley was doing a preemptive strike against mascots to protect himself. I mean, it was a handful of years ago that the SCSU mascot slashed a Michigan player just before the game! Where was the apology letter then?! Don't do it, Finley!
First off the blogger of this site
shouldnt have even brought this matter up, seems like he has nothing new to talk about! and since Finley had to slash a mascot
I see no class on UNDs part, would that be coming from the way he,s coached
Joe Finley, a big time draft pick? Pah-leeeeez!! He's gonna be an AHL lifer. Rock hands and he skates like my grandma.
The point is Finley is such a goon he can even confine his cheap goonery to games.
It's funny that anon 8:15 is talking about the team affiliation of everyone posting because with the exception of donald all the post are anonymous. I guess you used your psychic powers to discern our respective teams.
