US World Junior Camp

USA Hockey released the roster of playersthat will tryout for the US World Junior team.

Technically, Erik Johnson is also eligible to play for this team, but his availability, as well as that of Pat Kane and Peter Mueller will depend on if they're playing in the NHL next season.

I'd guess that this ends up being a pretty young team for the US. The crop of '88 birthdates wasn't particularly deep, while the '89s don't have many superstars, but looks a lot deeper.

Will USA hockey still consider Mike Carman for the team as he will not of played any games for the first half of the season?

anonymous- who cares? he can sit at home and practice his "tugging the "M" on his sweater" move.

EJ not invited because he's signed and will be in the NHL next season. Kane and Mueller are unsigned and uncertain for next season. I'd be real surprised if EJ isn't with St. Louis at lest by December when the team is picked.

Jordan Schroder? Who is that?

Schroeder is a Minnesota recruit for 2009.

birth year 90? He must be pretty special, but pretty small?

I love how worked up people get over the tugging on the sweater thing. You do realize it's a game? Lighten up, Francis.

T.J. Galiardi looks like an interesting choice. Could be a sleeper to make the team

anon 5:10...you're right, it is just a game....which is why you should act like you've been there before after you light the lamp. it is a team game, right? maybe frazee should flash it after every save.....

Anonymous said...

Will Frazee pop it after letting in full length of the ice goals or while getting busted drinking long islands?

Anonymous said...

No, the flashing the glove after every routine save is Lameoreauux's patented move. If Frazee tried to steal it the Susies would march on Poland. Seig Heil!

Anon 7:43 - I basically agree with you. I prefer the "act like you have been there before" approach as well, but ultimately the sweater tug IS just another celebration. Hockey players employ many different ones, most of the pretty silly, but all motivated by the joy of scoring the goal.

Interesting that Schroeder gets invite over players like jenks, cichy, czarnik and wahl to name a few.

Schroeder is good but let's be realistic here. Schroeder is not the top ranked player in the US.

Yeah

Don't forget about P.McRae

Apparently USA Hockey disagrees with the anonymous guy who wrote at 11:58 in terms of Schroeder.

LOL, Cichy couldn't even cut it on U17 team. Let alone the U18 team like Schroeder did.
