Can someone please explain why the Indiana Ice would select John Tavares from the oshawa gererals of the ohl? Is is not like he can go NCAA.
Ohio had traded away quite a few picks early in the year acquiring veterans from other USHL clubs. Once a team reaches 23 on their protected list, they have to stop drafting and wait for the remainder of the teams to get to 23 before they can resume drafting.
Indy drafted Tavares just for fun, those picks 23-30 are pretty much a waste anyways...sometimes a guy will make it, but mostly it's just to make sure the kid comes to their camp.
kristof....totally inaccurate, being drafted does not guarantee you a spot on the team. I also know first rounders that didnt make the team and know for a fact Cedar Rapids had 6 undrafted players rostered last year.
there was a lack of goaltenders taken in this draft.. i wonder why? usually there are 1st round goalie picks but they waited until the 4th round to pick a Maine recruit. i don't get it
goalies are a dime a dozen from NAHL and jr B. all the good wons are taken.......some develop later. Top kids from last year wern't even drafted. it is a crap shoot

it is about winning and not promoting kids to college- duh!
Question: Why would the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets not draft from the 3rd-10th round?
Like John Taveres would ever step foot in Indiana....PLEASE!

John Tavares has visited Indy...Before he made his choice to go OHL.I doubt he would come here, but what the heck.
Why did Mike Cichy leave the NTDP?

the real question is why were they allowed to draft anyways..all they do is piss the season away.
re: the draft results from past years...
I am currently putting together a spreadsheet of the draft results I have from 99-present. Should be posted at a later date on my blog.
