Northern Michigan sophomore-to-be Jacques Lamoureux was finally accepted into the Air Force Academy and will transfer. Lamoureux originally committed to AFA, but was unable to gain admission to the school because he had been diagnosed with depression when he was younger. Lamoureux applied again though, and this time was admitted. Congratulations to him for not giving up on his dream.

The GF Herald article also says Lamoureux's brother, Mario, who had committed to Northern Michigan, will return the USHL and re-open his recruitment.

Chris Heisenberg has an article on Steven Anthony "considering" college hockey.

He also mentions that St. Catharines forward Riley Sheahan fell a lot in the OHL draft because of NCAA interest and is considering Notre Dame, Michigan, and BC.

Speaking of the OHL Draft, it looks like Kingston messed up in drafting BU commit Ethan Werek. Apparently Kingston's GM was blissfully unaware.

The thing is, a team like Kitchener can get away with drafting a player that looks guaranteed to go to college, because they have the means to persuade that player, whereas it looks like Kingston just wasted a pick.

Another first round OHL pick, Jordan Mayer may not report to the Soo. The Soo is the furthest west, and usually least desirable location for OHL players. Mayer may consider the college option, but it's likely that he'll play Jr. A or something for a year until he can get his rights traded to a different team.

The New England Pro-Am Pre-draft tournament is this weekend. Most of the players are from the East Coast. Lake Superior recruit Chad Nehring had three points in his first game for Team Canada West, and while potential uber-recruit Taylor Stefishen also had three points for that team.

Michigan State assistant coach Brian Renfrew withdrew his name from consideration for the vacant Alaska coaching job.

The St. Cloud Times mentioned a bunch of candidates that have applied. Among the names they mentioned were St. Cloud assistant Eric Rud, Minnesota-Duluth assistant Steve Rohlik, Ohio State assistant Jason Lammers, and Western Michigan assistant Chris Brooks.

Alaska is expected to announce finalists for the job soon.

Perhaps someone should tell Jordan Mayer that Soo was good enough for #99. Who does he think he is, Eric Lindros?
