More on Early Departures

Jack Johnson is officially an LA King. He signed a contract similar to NHL superstars like Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, and Evgeni Malkin. He could make up to $4 million dollars next year if he hits all his bonuses. Johnson earned his first nickel as a hockey player on Saturday night, for the ride he gave North Dakota's Jonathan Toews, when Toews latched onto him as Johnson tried to retrieve a puck behind his own net, leading to T.J. Oshie's first goal.

Don Lucia says he wants his players to decide early if they are leaving for the pros or are coming back. I understand his reasoning, but I don't know if it will make much difference. Lucia doesn't have a whole lot of control in this situation, which has to be frustrating.

Word is Okposo will leave Minnesota and say good riddance to Don Lucia. He sounds like he did not enjoy the last half of the season, and Lucia only made matters worse. Lucia is really going to have issues with his Gopher team next year. Man I hope Lucia leaves soon.

Actually, I would not be surprised if "Coach Crud" (don't ask) doesn't lose all 3 big names...Okposo, Goligoski and Johnson. Rumor is Okposo and Johnson were not exactly Lucia fans. And they would only get $85k signing bonuses if they left this year. I agree that Lucia either needs to change his hard @ss ways or just leave the program. Tyler Hirsch was handled so unprofessionally by Lucia. Lucia will continue to drive the good players away after they have a taste of his personality.

Well to be fair just a year ago people were knocking Lucia for being too loose allowing his players to sometimes be soft, yet now we're going to rip him for being hard arse. Tyler Hirsch had been given far too many chances and was a distraction. Johnson was playing for an NHL contract and little else. The attitude of many high draft picks is bringing down the gophers, it has nothing to do Lucia and his staff.
