Sioux Falls' Ryan Guentzel committed to Notre Dame.

Western Michigan picked up two defenseman for the 2009 season. The first is defenseman Josh Bemis, who is playing for the Chicago Steel. Prior to playing for the Steel, I believe he played for the Victory Honda AAA program.

The other is Luke Witkowski, who is playing for the Team NXI Midget program(formerly known as the West Michigan Warriors). He was selected by Ohio in the USHL Future's Draft this fall.

I think it's a nice move by Western Michigan. They may be taking a little bit of a risk on how these kids will develop, but if they do develop into top players, Western will have gotten commitments from them before other programs can get to them.
