Senior Night

A lot of teams will be playing their regular season home games this weekend, meaning it will be a special night for all the seniors. Will senior night be motivation enough for some teams to win their win final game on home ice? If so, it could have a major impact on the standings.

Duluth has pretty much mailed it in in the second half of the season, but this weekend will be the last home series at the DECC this season, and if next week's vote goes the right way, possibly the last ever Duluth game played at the DECC. Perhaps that will inspire the 'dogs to upset Colorado College and hurt the Tigers chances at finishing in 4th place.

In Anchorage this weekend, the Seawolves look to close out a miserable season against first place Minnesota. On paper it looks like 4 easy points for the red hot Gophers, but the long road trip combined with senior night for UAA could mean the Seawolves steal a couple points and open up the door for Wisconsin or Denver.

Wisconsin travels to Mankato for Mankato's last series of the regular season, in what should be the first sell-out at the Midwest Wireless Center this season. If this awesome wallpaper is any indication, Brian Elliott should come out on top, and Stomper will need to borrow a cup of urine from Blizzard the Husky before his next drug test.

In the CCHA, Michigan and Ferris State will play a home and home series, meaning each team will honor their seniors this weekend. The points are probably more important for the Bulldogs who are tied for 8th, but could climb as high as 5th this weekend. Michigan always seems to struggle at Big Rapids regardless of when the game is played.

Western Michigan hosts Nebraska-Omaha on their senior night. A couple wins could move Western out of last place and move Nebraska-Omaha out of a first round bye in the CCHA playoffs.

Northern Michigan is clinging to that fifth place spot in the CCHA and has the chance to hold onto it with a home ice series against Ohio State.

Finally, Fairbanks plays Notre Dame at the Joyce Center with each team tied in 8th place.
