I seem to have a weird sense of timing with these things. A few weeks ago, a day after mentioning Erik Felde in a post, it was announced that he had committed to Alaska-Anchorage, and now, a day after mentioning players that left college hockey to go play major junior, Michigan State sophomore Peder Skinner has left Michigan State for the OHL, citing lack of playing time.
The Spartans had high hopes for Skinner going into a last season, when he put up big numbers in his final year of juniors with now Michigan forward Andrew Cogliano. Skinner couldn't match that level of success in college hockey though, as he was frequently a healthy scratch or playing on the fourth line.
Playing in Kingston should give him a fresh start and a chance to play every night and regain his confidence.
