FYI...Nic Rioux will be sitting out the first ten games of the year and will not be NCAA-eligible until the DU series on Nov 14-15. Attended a major junior camp, which the NCAA has held against him.
SCSU didn't have top end talent on D last year and still made the tourney, I think they will again this year, they are vastly underrated and even without Nodl will be potent on offense and the powerplay once again.
So one of the holy trinity of the "much improved defense" will be missing a quarter of the season.
And they don't have top end talent on D this year either.
The SCSU power play was potent. The rest of the offense not so much. 39% of SCSU's goals came on the power play. Until your freshmen and sophomores prove they take up the slack that graduation and early departure created, SCSU is not underrated by everyone else, just overrated by their fans. SCSU lost over 35% of its scoring from last season. I suspect Nodl and his 44 points may not be as easy to replace as every SCSU fan seems to think.
Will Lauridsen be eligible to play this season? According to some chatter on the ST. Cloud fan site Lauridsen could be this years Luca Cunti. See ya Glacier. Swiss cheese d.
Explanation from SCSU beat writer from a column he wrote on Nic Rioux (word-for-word)on why Rioux has to sit out all of last year and 10 games this year...NCAA rules:
"Growing up in Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec, the goal of just about every kid with a pair of skates was to play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He pursued that goal, for a total of five preseason games with the Rimouski Oceanic when he was barely 17 years old.
Now, nearly five years later, he’s still paying for the decision.
The NCAA, which views Canadian major junior hockey as professional, requires anyone exposed to it to sit out a full season before becoming eligible. In addition, there’s a penalty of missing two college games for every major junior game in which they participated.
That means Rioux won’t be eligible to dress for a regular-season game for St. Cloud State until Nov. 15 against Denver."
Lauridsen will be eligible, his academic material didn't get to the clearinghouse until the end of August and it takes the NC$$ about a month to 6 weeks to get to them all, he'll be playing by the end of the month at the latest is my guess.

How long was he there that he has to sit out a year and 6 weeks?

Rumor has it that Lauridson is known as "The Glacier".

What is Lauridsen's situation? Will he be eligible?

Is Brent Borgan really not going to be in their top-12 forwards?
Borgen will likely see a lot of playing time as a bottom line guy and a penalty killer.
Borgen will be in the top 12, but just barely...he'll skate with the 4th line and be involved in some PK situations.
