Anchorage Loses Two

The biggest news story in Alaska yesterday? Joe the Plumber used to live there.

But also on the radar was that UAA forwards Brad McCabe and Winston Daychief are no longer with the team. Both are rumored to be academic casualties. Daychief and McCabe each scored 10 points for the Seawolves as freshmen last season.

Daychief left under suspected grade issues. McCabe left because of differences with Shyiak. Two issues everyone is trying to push under the rug. This is two big losses. Both players were expected to produce offence this year. On a team that has troubles scoring its a big loss no matter what the pundits say

Ouch, that's bad news for UAA. Seemed like they were two of the Seawolves' more promising players.

Lots of players don't see eye to eye with their coaches, the coaches aren't there to be their friends. McCabe was upset with Whitten left, but he also had academic issues. It was a combination of the two things, and bottom line is he didn't have the back bone to buckle down and do the work.

Can we please just boot UAA out of the WCHA? The simply do not deserve to be in the league. They are a joke. Bring in Bemidji State.

Bemidji State hasn't won a game yet this year. Lost two games to a WCHA team and lost to AIR FORCE. What a joke, they would be worse than UAA.

does anyone know where mccabe will be playing since he has junior eligibility left?

Seawolves (3-1-0)

Better record than Wisconsin who has a line-up of NHLers!!!

UAA looked pretty good this weekend beating Maine and Mercyhurst, and bringing home the hardware from Fairbanks first annual tournament!

Of course these are the return to the glory years of UAA hockey.

I think North Dakota should leave the wcha.

Bring on the BigTen Hockey Conference. (I know, not enough teams... but add one or two that would otherwise qualify.) That would take MN and WI out of the WCHA, you could bring in BSU and maybe Omaha.

Just a wild stab in the dark but who is their draft teams. ( CHL )

Some teams in the Dub must have their rights. If they are not good enough then off to the USHL.

To the first poster, nothing is being "pushed under the rug". The Fairbanks paper wrote an article about Brad joining the IceDogs:

http://newsminer.com/news/2008/oct/23/ice-dogs-bolster-roster-addition-two-players/

Quote: "McCabe was the second-leading scorer for the Seawolves as a freshman, but academic issues forced him to return to Junior hockey."

Quit trying to make something out of nothing.
