UBC Back on the Table
The University of British Columbia will head to Alaska this weekend to play an exhibition game against each of the Alaska schools. Those games will take on some added intrigue as each side will be checking each other out for a possible bid by UBC to join the NCAA in coming years.

Interesting comment that D-1 schools span from "Colorado to Michigan." Obviously thats the WCHA footprint.
I thought the WCHA didn't want to expand. Or is that just their excuse to avoid taking Bemidji into the conference?
If UBC and Simon Fraser weren't so far away I would say that they would be the perfect solution to the CHA's membership problems. Hate to think what those travel expenses would be like.
The UBC AD makes a comment about picking a sport to "play up" ... but I believe there is an NCAA moratorium against allowing this. This makes it sound like UAA and UBC will be playing each other in NCAA hockey games soon. UBC may get D-II approval - but not D-I hockey approval.
if i was in charge of NCAA Hockey i would get the financially strong eastern canadian schools into hockey east. This would weaken the chl's ability to send the few kids they do to college, thus weaken their sales pitch to young recruits and therefore allow the NCAA to get more great hockey players.
I didn't think there was a moratorium on playing up if your division doesn't sponsor the sport you want to compete in?

How many is "a few kids they do to college". I am guessing you have no idea what that number is.
If you were in charge of NCAA hockey it would be the CHL's greatest day.
Most of the palyers out East in the CIS are from Major Junior...
A few??
Shake your head!
