New Commits

I don't think I ever mentioned that goalie Joe Howe committed to Colorado College for the 2009 season. Howe played high school hockey in Wayzata, Minnesota before moving on to the USHL last season. He'll replace Drew O'Connell who graduates next season, and could step in as a starter if Richard Bachmann has another great year and decides to turn pro.

Justin Filzen committed to play for Alaska this season. Filzen played his high school hockey for Proctor High School, near Duluth and made a nice name for himself playing junior hockey last season.

Traverse City forward Kyle Jean committed to Lake Superior. He's a local kid with a lot of potential. A very nice pick-up for LSSU.

Keegan Meuer committed to Wisconsin. The World of Junior Hockey notes that Wisconsin has a recruiting pipeline with the Waterloo Blackhawks, now having four recruits from that team, as opposed to just three from every other team.

NTDP U17 defenseman Adam Clendening committed to Boston College. He's a small fast defenseman from Buffalo that played hockey in Toronto last year.

Another Wisconsin recruit for 09?!?! Eaves keeps pushing kids out left and right! Just look what happened to my nephew Zach, surprised they even honored his scholarship.

travis erstad headed to D3 Stevens Point. Guess the delaying entry for another year got what Eaves wanted. Anyone who thinks that this coaching staffs recruiting practices are honorable and honest needs to take a close look. u2wojo can say kids don't live up to billing(goro and bearson) or that they flee when challanged, (Sawatske, Williams, Auffrey) only need to look at Eaves history to realize it is this coaching staff's policies not these athletes.

Give Eaves a break, he suffers from post concussion syndrome which explains all the over-recruiting impulsivness, the irrational hitting of Leavitt, and the self-righteousness of pushing players either to leave or not ever enter. He is a brain injury victim, which is the reason he had to retire from playing. This explains his craziness in coaching and recruiting.

Meuer is an average hockey player. The bottom line and the number 1common factor is that if you are from wisconsin you automatically have a ticket to play for the badgers, this latest committment totally proves what everybody has been many players can you have on one team or better yet how many players will actually play?

It does not appear that the delaying from 08 to 09 was a factor in Erstad's decision.

Furthermore, I'm not buying that Eaves was trying to force Erstad out.

Not that "delaying" is the right term, here -- he wasn't really being delayed, as he committed for either 08 or 09. But regardless, even if you want to call it a delay, it does not appear to be a factor.

And I'm not buying that Eaves was trying to push Erstad out.(And I'm not a blind Eaves lover. Yeah, I like Eaves, but I've also questioned a number of things he's done.)

I do find the number of forwards lined up a bit much, and I'm uncomfortable about the implications -- that's a lot of forwards sitting each night. Nonetheless, this does not seem to be the causative factor behind Erstad's decision.

Our blogging author left out a small but maybe important fact about Clendenning and Boston.

Adam C is also a high draft pick of your favourite CHL team, the London Knights and his best friend Christian Thomas ( son of Stumpy )is set to begin his Junior Career here next week with the opener.

Nice photo for BU fans on The Scouting News of Clendenning wearing a Knights Jersey.

Maybe the Pat Kane thing will teach Boston a lesson about recruiting London draft pics.
