Palin: Hockey Mom or Super Fraud?

So I awoke this morning to hear that John McCain had picked a vice presidential candidate. I was disappointed that Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty fell short of ahis goal of screwing the city of Mankato on a more federal level, but I was excited to hear that the world's least exciting man had at least spiced up his ticket with that guy from Monty Python. Then I found out he actually picked Alaska governor Sarah Palin instead of Michael Palin. It was awkward, though not as bad as the response from the Obama campaign, which was: "No fair! We didn't know we could pick people from outside the United States!"

Anyway, the choice of Palin set the internets abuzz about the lady that is a "self-described hockey mom". I'm not buying it though. Her kids are named Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, and Trig. A real hockey parent would have given her kids real hockey names like Stone, or Brick, . And shouldn't a hockey mom be taking her poorly-named to see the local college team play? I'm pretty sure all 7 members of their family weren't at UAA games last year since UAA's average attendance was 4 people and a moose.

Plus, let's not ignore the other hockey skeletons in her closet. For example, last year she actually gave a trophy to one of the worst teams in college hockey. Whatever happened to striving for excellence? I'm fairly certain had Barack Obama presided over those games, he would have done something cool like karate kick both goalies and keep the Cup for himself until both teams started winning some conference games.

Ummmm, the capital of Alaska is Juneau, not Anchorage, and as governor one of the first things she did was sell the state's private jet...

You left out that oldest son Track played three years of H.S. hockey in Wasilla and midgets for Team nXi. THAT is from where the hockey mom comment is derived.

It's like 800 miles from Juneau to Anchorage. That's a long way to travel to watch a really crappy hockey team. Maybe she's a fan of the Juneau Adult Hockey League?

For a guy as interested in "ranking" things as Chris is; you'd think he'd look at KRACH and PWR rankings for last year before calling UAA "one of the worst teams in college hockey".

Being around the middle equals "the worst" now? More quality hockey commentary from Chris. We can't wait for the next one! Does Chris think Alaska is part of Canada?

Barak would have given a trophy to all of the players and everyone in the arena and proceeded to tell them all that the trophies were paid for by taxes on the evil corporations. The money for the trophies came from the evil corporations, not from your pocketbooks.....

Wow, I guess you are a little bitter. Not that cool to debunk the meteoric rise of a genuine hockey mom that used be the manager of her son's hockey team. "One of the worst teams in college hockey" really? There are plenty of teams (non WCHA) out there that would fare far worse with the strength of schedule that UAA faces.

Gov. Palin was at least one of the Alaska Airlines Governors Cup Games between UAA and UAF at the Sullivan Arena last October. I saw here there myself.

Please just stick to hockey.

No Barack Obama wouldn't allow a trophy to be handed out because that would hurt the other teams' feelings. He would call it a draw so everyone is equal.

Brick for President!

A bit bitter, aren't we?

Sorry. No moose show up to the games. People generally try to keep away from moose unless they're hunting them.

Pretty funny.

The Mesiah is upset because they got out foxed by McCain. They pushed a woman aside in Clinton to bring in Bidon so the Conservatives turn around and land a woman that no one thought would happen. The names are a little too Liberal sounding to me. Maybe Junior or Buzz-saw, Brutus, Blackey would sound better.

US politics are if nothing else entertaining. In case no one knows we are about to have an election in Canada probably in October. The problem is not even the media are paying attention, there too busy attending US stuff watching the O"Bama, Bidon, Palin, Vet guy circus act.

A real Hockey Mom would have named her kids Bauer or Cooper.

Nice to see that you know as much about politics as you do about hockey. Keep trying and I am sure you will find something you understand.

What does Sarah Palin, or vice presidential candidates have to do with Western College Hockey?

Sure, a break from the topic once in a while is good. However, a break from the topic to whine about Mankato not getting a hand-out from the government,....slam UUA, and their attendance,...fuss about somebody's choice of kid names? Was this "break from the topic" entertaining?

I am beginning to wonder if this site is even worth the time anymore.

Nice work. I always enjoy reading a funny post that offends fans that can't take a joke. I wonder if Palin knows what a seawolf is...

Wow, who would have thought that no one here would have a sense of humor?

Seems that they're Republicans, so I guess it makes sense.

So she's a hockey mom and not a hockey fan.

Too bad McCain didn't choose Rich Rodriguez, he'd have 108,000 more votes in Michigan this week if he had spared the faithful their second opening day defeat in a row.

Well I suppose she could have named one of them Kael.

The Palin kids names sound a whole hell of a lot better than "Barak" or "Hussein" or "Obama" any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Amen to that RR...

"Sarah-Baracuda", "Sarah-dipity".... cute nick names, but I've never seen a real "hockey mom" who had time to run a city much less a state. Just cuz your kids play hockey doesn't make you a "hockey mom." I will say she would be the hottest VP this country's ever seen, though. MILF for President!

If Trigg is actually her grand son, where does that leave Palin and her statements of honesty and crap? She was the very same Washington pork pro-bridge and lobbying before she turned "born-again" ala-Bush.

Cut the crap, let go of her, get Mitt Romney at least. This compaign will lose. McCain is a loser, has shown that he is no more a person to believe in than Bush or Cheney.

This was truly one of your dumber and most distatsteful posts....shame on you...really.

Anon @ 8:33, how do you get that she's not a hockey fan from that link and picture? Get a life.

Chris, get the facts straight, Palin did not move to Juneau!
