Here is my draft list of Americans for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. I'm just listing players that I've seen, so there may be a few east coasters(such as John Henrion) that aren't listed and I've also left the goalies off of this list to make things a little simpler.
As a bonus, I've also written a bit more on the top ten players listed.

Very Nice List.... Ryan Walters should be higher, but other than that it looks about right.
Wow, Goliembiewski #44 and no Krupp. The CHL really won that battle.

I talked to somebody who watched the Ivan Hlinka tournament, and he said Walters' weaknesses were exposed and exploited. Expect his stock to plummett. Nick Oliver was given an "A" rating by the CSB, rejected an offer to join the NTDP, and was on the first PP unit for the US team, so you might want to add him to the list somewhere. ;)
Where do you get the info from CSB?
"Nick Oliver was given an A rating by CSB" ??? Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that those rankings haven't even come out yet. I would be pretty surprised to see Oliver as an A player.
I think Walters is about right.
The guy above who discusses the Ivan Hlinka tournament must think that a player's ability can be thoroughly judged by a five day window of performance. Ridiculous.
I doubt Nick Oliver will be end up an "A" player once the scouts scrutinize him over the year. It isn't uncommon for a player in his draft year to start out with such a rating and then drop a lot once the scouts break down his game more closely. Other than size and a decent work ethic, Oliver is an average player. Hard work can help but you can only improve so much if your natural ability at something is limited. After all, you can say you are going to become a great sprinter but all the hard work in the world won't get you there if you don't have that natural genetic ability in the first place.
It'll be interesting to see whether Golembiewski and Krupp move up the draft list when they actually get playing time in their new teams.

Kyle Palmieri should be higher even though he is not that tall he has the speed, the strength, work ethic, and raw skill to become a serviceable NHL player. Also, Nick Oliver is not very good I am sorry.
Amburgey is another NTDP D that did not play much this past season. Ranking him 12th is pretty high imo. Chris Brown came on strong late last year, look for him to move up this list. Budish has, according to most scouts the size, but his footspeed is very average and skating ability is critical in today's pro game. He'll fall out of the top 30.

The comment on Oliver being an "A" recruit from CBS came from an article on NHL.com about him during the Ivan Hlinka tourney.

I know goalies were left off the list, but Roseau's Mike Lee (SCSU committed) was rated at #25 overall in the rankings. That's potential first-round pick territory.
Where's your list of "Canadian Recruits" or is this just another slur against our neighbo(u)rs to the North?
Dan Ford should be in the Top 25 for sure...

surprised to see Ben Hughes listed on any listed. He struggled at SSM and then was not a top D for TI this past season.
To the above poster, Fowler is a late birthday, so he's eligible in 2010. Windsor will be getting a solid, solid player.
I am surprised Collin Bowman is rated that high. Big kid, nice shot. However, his skating and hockey IQ needs improvement.
I am sure there will be lots of movement of kids on everyone's list during the upcoming season.
Its amazing on these sights you can tell who the guys are at the NTDP program that post and slam the Minnesotans every time to try to make themselves look better.

Oliver once scrutinized he will not be an A player. Olvier will have a dominating season in high school and his before and after in the USHL will again show committment to be challenged and not worry about exploiting weaknesses.
Sure these 3 could all stay in highschool and put up 90+ points but why.
Also they are playing in the USHL and the NTDP team plays against the NAHL. A step or 2 down in JR A hockey
I would take a team of the top 18 Minnesota high schoo players and play the NDTP every year aand that is the team that should go to Europe. Minnesota wins 9 out of 10 times.
These arrogant comments by Ann Arbor players and parents is exactly why the Minnesota kids turn down the program in droves the past 3-4 years.
Gaardinarr, Ness, Stepan, Budish, Schmidt, Bugstad, Folbert,Helgesson, Leddy and on and on and on
I haven't seen any Mock Drafts with Budish even going in the 1st Round, much less a Top 7 Pick.
Hanowski should be higher if you would have seeen him at model camp, he was the best player at the camp. Hands down
This group of 91 minnesotans is very strong. To say that the NTDP is not getting any of the top prospects from the state is absurd though. They have mattson who was by far the best defenseman in this group of Minnesotans. Yes, they lost out on Budish and Walters and names like that, but that does not mean that the players they got are scrubs or any less capable than the Minnesotans. Honestly, Morin is the most talented 91 in all of America. If he was competing against these Minnesotans he would dominate as, in my opinion, would a player like Palmieri who is very happy to be ther to represent his county. I don't understand how the Minnesotans reject their country though. Perhaps because i don't live in Minnesota I don't understand. However, this can also be compared to Major Juniors. Why do guys bolt for Major Juniors other than to better their game? Well tehre is a similar feeling of awe playing Major Juniors. The only case I can understand not leaving Minnesota is Budish.

Thanks for making me check that out because the two Mock Drafts I looked at had Schroeder ahead of Morin.
It is not about rejecting the country, it is about rejecting the NTDP. The NTDP has been a laugh for the hockey community. They acually hurt players rather than develop them.

You missed Peterson and Little. Both of them will find their way to the draft.
Morin is already an "elite player" for his age group and will be a high pick in the draft. Players with a high degree of ability can make it taking the college route or the CHL route. It seems to me that the CHL buffoons out there can't accept the reality that there is more than one way to make it to the big show.
Petersen and Little weren't missed they laid eggs overseas and everyone is trying to get the smell of rotten eggs out and clean up the mess they made.

On the "top ten" list, your description of Schmitz is correct except in one glaring regard; he is not a "very smart" player (ask his teammates)he took so many stupid penalties; esp in key situations. Besides his size (5' 9", which he has no control over), that's his major weakness as a player.
Schmitz may take dumb penalties, but that is due to immaturity and once he gets to the O that will be cleaned up because otherwise he will get his ass kicked by not only the otehr team, but also his teammates. It is an age thing everyone takes dumb penalties and the way I see it, this guy is so talented that this is a minor thing. Look for him to move up to borderline first to early third round selection come draft time.
big ditto on the 11:18 Anon post; rating a kid (B. Hughes) who didn't excel v. MM talent way higher than kids who played junior schedules is way way off base; it's almost as if a 2 year old rating just got regurgitated; the kid's a good athlete, but he'll be lucky if he plays at DI level.
I have played with Ben Hughes. He is a solid defenseman and due to a good reputation he will probably play d1, but in all honesty he is not that good whihc means he will need all the time he can to acclimate to the USHL. However, that said he is still solid, but will never sniff a chance at the pros.
who is Danny Mattson ? Is he related to Nick Mattson; or do you mean Nick Mattson ? Nick Mattson isn't eleigible for 2009 draft. Like Fowler, he's a young '91.

Walters should not be higher and will probably end up lower. He has the ability to score, but is not a great skater. He wanted to go to NTDP badly, but was not asked from what I heard.
I see Budish as a first rounder because of his talent and size. NHL teams have a desire for big centers.
FYI to whoever, Budish is playing high school hockey this year. Oliver is doing a before and after high school. Walters is the only one that moved on of those three.
I believe Leddy & Budish were two players invited to NTDP but declined.
josh Bemis should be higher up on that list, hes got good size for a defenseman with great skating skills. Expect his draft stock to improve this season
I agree about Bemis. I have seen him play a couple times. He is a very smart defensive player that is always in position. Also a good skater with decent size. Lots of potential. From the games I have seen, I would have him above Schmidtz, but I think that Beau will be a great player once he adjusts to the OHL.
Nice List but Dan DeLisle should be Higher on the list, Big player that can move has hands and very smart!

Cannot believe this Hughes kid made any list. Way too slow and indecisive. Has size but no speed on D.
Brickler...what a joke. he just gradually gets moved to worse and worse USHL teams every year. he has peaked and will soon fade away.
Oliver has one of the hardest work ethics which will get him far. he also has dont national development camps and has definitely proved himself as a player. he deserves a spot of that list.
also what about John Moore of the USHL? Definitely deserves a top ten spot on that list.
Zach Budish is by the far the best player in the world and should be number one.
ps ryan walters should be lower.
