Final CSB Rankings

NHL Central Scouting released their final rankings on Thursday.

In a fairly weak year, the US still managed three players in the top 10, and two in the top five with defensemen Zach Bogosian and Tyler Myers. College players among the top 30 were: Colin Wilson, BU(10th), Zac Dalpe, OSU(16), John Carlson, UMass(17), Jake Gardiner, UW(23), Aaron Ness, Minn(27), and Joe Colborne, DU(28).

Colin Wilson is a dual citizen. He was raised in Winnipeg and played all his minor hockey there. However, he went to the NDTP because he wanted to play in NCAA hockey like his father (Canadian olympic superstar Carey Wilson), thus he probably felt pressures from USA hockey(!) to represent the United States, despite being raised in Canada.

Myers now considers himself Canadian (he moved he when he was 10) and was recently on the IIHF-sanctioned U-18 Team Canada, which means he'll represent Canada at all future events. He is a dual citizen too.

The two players in the Top 5, Zach Bogosian and Tyler Myers, both play Major Junior in Canada....and Bogosian wasn't good enough to play for the USA U20 Team this past year.

Looks like a real down year for college hockey prospects. Anyone know if next year wll be better.

Oh Canada, our home and native land...how great thou art

Weak Draft? Really? Maybe a weak year for US College players only.

Have you seen any OHL or WHL games this year? Lots of good players.

Yeah, all college hockey programs and USA Hockey should just fold...no use trying to compete with the CHL or Hockey Canada. We bow down to you as a superior nation. We are not worthy. How dare we try to point out any positive aspects of our nation's lowly athletes!

I'm pretty sure Chris meant the US talent was weak and not the draft itself as most people consider this a strong draft.

Bogosian was the product of the USA Hockey dislike of kids going the major junior route...Not to mention he's 17. I am sure next year he will be selected next year

This is most likely the deepest draft since 2001.
