New Commits

Park Rapids HS forward Zach Lehrke committed to Minnesota State. It seems likely that he'll play two years of junior hockey before joining the Mavericks, though it sounds like there is the possibility of only playing one year in the USHL.

Michigan State got two commitments from NAHL players in forward Mike Merrifield and defenseman Brock Shelgren. Shelgren will join the Spartans next year, while Merrifield will likely wait until 2009.

My post on Woodbury's David Eddy got cut a bit short since it was made from a hotel lobby, but here is Kevin Allenspach's article on the commitment.

SCSU didn't want Lehrke.

I don't know, but I would have wanted him over Eddy, that's a no brainer!

Lehrke is a great pick up for MSU-M, after a year of two of seasoning in the USHL he should be able to really contribute right away for them. Does anyone know where he is playing?

He was taken by the CR Rough Riders in the futures draft this past fall. He is a fast forward with a very good offensive skill set. Ever since this fall I couldn't believe nobody had moved on him sooner. Mankato got themselves a great player.

Gophs didn't want him either.

MSU-M will take your cast offs and develop them into good players(if that is what you are trying to say) its worked well in the recent past.
