Carruth to Duluth

Minnesota-Duluth picked up a commitment today from '92-born goaltender Mac Carruth.

Carruth is originally from the Twin Cities, but moved to Chicago, and has been playing for the Chicago Fury Midget AAA team. Carruth will be attending the NTDP Tryout Camp later this month.

The Bulldogs now have a nice succession of goaltenders lined up with Alex Stalock, '90 born recruit Brady Hjelle, and now the '92 born Carruth.

Nice pickup for the Bulldogs. He was discussed on GPL a little. So it seems the Gophers were also interested.

Yes, because clearly if a player was talked about on GPL the Gophers must have been interested. Most -- if not all -- mentions of him on there were by Iceberg, who keeps an eye on most/all Minnesota kids, regardless if the Gophers are interested in said kid.

As much as I loathe to agree with a Gopher fan, I don't think Carruth lines up with their goaltending needs very well.

1992 born goalies are still a gamble at this stage, regardless of how good they look right now. The Bulldogs MAY have gotten a good one, but only time will tell.

Hell, even Mike Lee for SCSU is still a question mark, and he's a 1990.

Howard was from NTDP.......they get great coaching there!

Kevin Pates of the Duluth News Tribune talked to him and details the conversation on his blog.

Carruth is the first 15 year old goalie to commit and he said he was also talking to Wisconsin, SCSU, UNH, and Minnesota.

He visited UMD last weekend and committed during the visit.

UMD got a winner in Carruth. His skill at this young age is amazing and he will only get better as he is a shoe in for the national develop. team. UMD continues their tradition of stud goalies.

have you come accross an accurate full list of invitees to the NTDP camp yet? I've seen a couple, each one has left off kids who should be there. I saw one list that didn't have Merrill on it and another that didn't have Moffatt... both early commits. Who's really going to show up next week?

He was my goalie for the Chicago Fury last season. UMD got a very talented goalie. That a boy Mac.
