Sad Stats

Heading into tonight's game against Nebraska-Omaha, Northern Michigan has a grand total of 2 goals from their defenseman this year, both of which are on the powerplay. That makes Northern Michigan the only team in the CCHA or WCHA without an even strength goal from a defenseman this season.

In fact, Michigan, Denver, Michigan Tech, and St. Cloud are the only teams that don't have an individual defenseman with more than 2 goals on the season.

You could make the argument St. Cloud has one as John Swanson has played both positions this year but all three of his goals were scored while playing as a defenseman

Two out of Swanson's three goals have been short-handed goals, and while he was dressed as a defenseman those games, he was playing forward on the PK when those goals were scored.

Even if he'd been playing D full time from the start of the year,, which was considered, he would have been a forward on the PK because he's the fastest guy on the team.

That said....I bet they could still beat the Gophers.

Brocklehurst scored his third goal of the season last night, playing defense this time. How about we just combine Swanson's goals and Brocklehurst's goals and divide by two?

I thought Mitera and Summers were
1st rounders? Very puzzling that M is #1 and show those stats.

Patrick Mullen of DU has 4 goals, but is listed as a forward on some rosters.
