Compuware Midget Minor forward Stuart Higgins committed to Maine, marking another '92 commitment. It's a bit of a surprise to see a Detroit-area kid go out East, though the Blackbears have shown some interest in some top MWEHL talent.
Michigan Tech picked up a commitment from defenseman Tommy Brown, who plays for Melfort in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. It's rare to see a bigger program take an SJHL player not from Notre Dame Prep, but Brown won the league's top defenseman award last year, and he won't be joining the Huskies until 2009.
Denver got a commitment from Alberta forward Shawn Ostrow, the brother of current Pioneer, Kyle Ostrow.
Colorado-native Brandon Blandina committed to Robert Morris. He's currently playing for Indiana in the USHL.

Sorry folks, the Gophers didn't have interest in any of these players.
I maybe should have put Higgins on my list of 1992's, but I didn't know how to account for the fact that he plays on Luke Moffatt's line. Which one is boosting the other? Stuart is 5'8", though he still could grow. Moffatt is already 6'0". Teammate Austin Watson IS on my list, but he just turned 16 and is already 6'2" tall!!
they are all good
in order of skill, moffat, watson, higgins
I gotta see Tech bringing in some nice players in the coming years. Seems like the're starting a nice pipeline with Sconnie players.
heard TI mm Mersch has commitment from Wisc. With the log jam when he is he expected to arrive?
I give up, CD. I don't know how CH gets his scoop so fast- he must be speed-dialed into every coach's cell phone. My kid's on the same team, and I just got the confirmation. Congrats, Higgie.
I have a kid currently playing in the MWEHL, and I always evaluate kids on skill.. More importantly, top players should be looked at on compatibility...Who would I want want my kid to play with? Who can help my kid shine?.....Give me Stu Higgins All Day Long!!!!!!!!!
It isn't that the Gophers had no interest in any of these players, anon 4:10PM, but rather it is well known that the players wanted to go where they would be properly developed and that aint no Snow job, boys.
Tommy Brown won the Defensive Player of the Year award in the Saskatchewan AAA Midget Hockey Leage last year, not the SJHL...just thought I'd let you know that Chris...he seems pretty solid for a kid from Prince Albert and hopefully he'll make a jump to the BCHL or AJHL next year to face some stiffer competition
