Recruiting Linkorama

I had said earlier this week that Andrew Conboy was probably done with college hockey, but that doesn't appear to be the case. According to USHR.com, Conboy is trying to gain admittance as a partial qualifier, meaning he'd start as a sophomore, and could gain back his final year of eligibility if he graduated after three years. The article mentions a few WCHA programs are interested in him.

The Michigan Daily reported that Omaha defenseman Patrick Wiercioch visited Michigan on Monday.

Overager Carlo Finucci is leading the BCHL is scoring and starting to draw college interest. The article says Alaska has shown the most serious interest, and that more offers could be on the way. (Via Junior Hockey Blog)

Dean Spiros of the Minneapolis Star-Tribue profiled Centennial's Tyler Pitlick, who said his goal is to play in the WCHA. I don't think that should be too much of a problem for him.

Detroit Honeybaked defenseman Brandon Archibald visited Notre Dame two weeks ago, to see the Irish play Nebraska-Omaha. Other schools that have expressed interest are Wisconsin, Miami, and Michigan State.

Archibauld is gonna be a damn good player for whoever gets him. He'll probably be a top 15 draft pick in a couple years.

Archibald is good, but has glaring flaws. foot speed and mobility are a problem. interesting to see if it improves over time. many feel it won't, that's why there haven't been any offers yet.

Good size and hands are best assets.

How can any of these players be considering Wisc. when they look at the recruits backed up for years and the fact that they couldn't sign letters of intent in the fall due to lack of available $$$. big over-recruiting problems there.

Why are they even considering Wisconsin? Is that even a question?

No, no Wisconsin doesnt. They have players with offers that are tentative for 08 or 09. Why wouldnt Eaves wait as long as possible to make sure he signs the players that are most ready to help next season?

I heard he visited Wisconsin because he was interested. I'm not sure the feeling is mutual. My source says Wisconsin was lukewarm on him at USA Selects in St. Cloud.

Wisc.has no $$$. If you look at seniors and figure which have $$ these top players are offered from other schools it isn't there. Only two d graduate with big money and one F. unless others go pro then they couldn't give money as they already are over-commited for two years out. great school, location etc but program has mismanaged $$$.

He would have to be interested since schools can't officially "recruit" a player till the summer after their Junior season meaning he would've had to make initial contact with UW coaches since I believe he's only a Sophmore in HS.
