CCHA: And Now For the Interesting Part

It's become fairly obvious that the CCHA this season is a four-team race between Michigan, Miami, Notre Dame, and Michigan State. At the semester break, all four teams have no more than 2 losses, and are at least 8 points lost ahead of the next best team in the league.

That said, the first half of the CCHA regular season has been kind of tame. Here were the series that featured two of the top four teams in the first half of the season:

Notre Dame @ Miami
Miami @ Michigan State

That means the second half should be fairly exciting with some huge match-ups. Here's a look at the series between two of the top four teams in the second half of the season.

Michigan State home and home with Notre Dame
Michigan State home and home with Michigan
Michigan home and Palace of Auburn Hills with Notre Dame
Michigan @ Miami
Michigan State home and Joe Louis Arena with Michigan

Looking at the schedule, it would seem that Miami has a bit of an advantage. They only have one series each against the other three teams, and have already played two of them. Michigan, on the other hand, hasn't played a top team yet, and four out of their 8 remaining series are against top teams.

How come the bottom half of the ccha is so weak? especially compared to the bottom half of the wcha?

Wcha is much weaker this year top to bottum. CCHA has an advantage here, as was shown in the showcase.
Who cares about bottum feeders anyway?

The 10-7-4 interconference record says the wcha is still much better.

yeah who were the wins in favor of the wcha over ccha against? most likely the bottom half of the ccha. when you pair up the top teams from each conference, it is extremely even.

Yes the WCHA wins may be against the bottom half but I look at it this way, every team but 2 in the WCHA is .500 or better overall.
7 of the 12 CCHA team are below .500

Hum, I know UND beat MSU 6-0 and I know that Minnesota beat Michigan to start the year.

That has to be one of the more stupider things I have read. The CCHA is also referred to as the Cup Cake hockey association.

I meant coaches, top to bottum-
CCHA over WCHA. That gives them an edge right?
Moron! 10-7-4 is pretty damn close, even if it was bottum half of CCHA.
Where is North Dakota, anyway?

North Dakota is in the United States.

Who won the National Championship last year and will again this year?

Isn't it about time the CCHA wins a title? Odds say the WCHA can't have the title winner every year, and at some point, the Hobey winner will come from another conference as well. As for North Dakota, Michigan can probably tell you everything you need to know about them given their post season troubles the past couple of years....

Wcha has only 6 guys in top 25 scoring stats, nationally. I would say that is a down year for WCHA. don't see any superstars there but Turris. CCHA gets the nod.

Is there such a thing as a "Virg Foss" trophy for mis season conferance accomplishments? So the CCHA gets the mid season "Virg". Outstanding, now back it up.

Who exactly are the "superstars" for the CCHA in the top 25 in scoring?
Porter? He's a great player but no superstar, same wiht Kolorik and Jones. The CCHA has some great players, but I don't see any NHL "superstars" in there.
And you bring up Turris who is struggling right now in conference play and if it keeps up, won't even win WCHA rookie of the year as that will go to either Bachman at CC or Roe at SCSU. And my guess is whoever gets the WCHA one, gets named national Rookie of year just like Nodl did last year
