WHL for CPZ?

A source in western Canada has informed me that Michigan Tech recruit Casey Pierro-Zabotel may soon be suiting for the Vancouver Giants of the WHL, and thus giving up on joining Michigan Tech's program midway through the season.

It's very important to note that this is still just a rumor, albeit one from a fairly credible source, and things can always change, but as of right now, it doesn't sound promising for the Huskies.

Dam...I was looking forward to getting to see him play in the WCHA. Hopefully this is just a bad rumor.

Sigh. This wouldn't surprise me if it was true.

Man, this is a bad week.

I guess the Maloney Pony will ride uncontested. Too bad. Dirty needs some humility.

Why be sad. Be happy for him.

He'll play 50 some games and sign a pro contract this year. He'll likely be in the AHL next season and have a shot at the big club out of training camp camp.

No one is sad for CPZ as this is probably the best career decision for him but the fans of the WCHA are sad for themselves to see yet another good player opt for the CHL.

First, why do schools go after kids who don't qualify? If any one checked, it is not that hard. If you can't qualify, you probably shouldn't be playing COLLEGE hockey. Teams should recruit players that want a college education. I really believe that is one of the great things about hockey over basketball and football - the idiots have another route to continue playing the sport.

You would be surprised. There are many individuals that are players first, and students second, if at all.

Anyone can get into college and play hockey and I mean anyone, if you have the talent that is. Just ask Nathan Gerbe from Boston College.

Believe me, there are ways around grades and the clearinghouse. Sometimes though the players no longer want to be bothered with playing the sham games. CBZ may have come to this point.

Yeh, I probably should be happy for him. I was just really looking forward to seeing him play this season... in a Huskies jersey, nonetheless.

The current freshmen class without Casey is working out pretty well. I'm very pleased with them. Especially Mr. Baker. HOLY CRAP.

If this is true, definitely good luck to Casey. We...er... appreciate your interest in Michigan Tech...

If this is true, your source should come up with some more solid information soon. Tech fans are waiting and wondering.

Expect CPZ to be at the Giants' practice on Thursday.
Otherwise, bang-on choice for not looking deep enough into qualifications.
