INCH had a pretty amazing story about Michigan Tech coach Jamie Russell.

Jean-Phillippe Lamoureux leads INCH's Hobey Watch.

Former Michigan forward Eric Nystrom scored his first NHL goal last night, with an assist from another former Michigan player, David Moss. To reprise one of my favorite Hobart Higgins quotes, "You can't play in the NHL unless you can score a lot of points at a lower level. Sorry Eric Nystrom."

Runnin' with the Dogs gets creative.

Anchorage's Nils Backstrom didn't break his leg. Neither did any of their other players, as far as I know.

Meet Steve Wagner.

Former Minnesota State forward Kevin Huck has transferred to UW-Superior.

The WCHA Blog took videos of some NTDP players on Sunday in their exhibition against St. Cloud.

For the record, anyone drawing conclusions from St. Cloud's tie on Sunday probably shouldn't. The Huskies sat captains Matt Stephenson, Nate Dey, and Garrett Raboin, and leading scorer Garrett Roe left midway through the game with a minor injury. With it being an exhibition, and the Huskies not wanting to risk injury, they didn't play a very physical game, and the more skill-game seemed to benefit the U18 team.

The U18 looked better than they did at the NAHL Showcase, but passing the puck still seems like a last resort for most of the team.

Every player on Miami's team that has played in all 6 games so far has scored a point this year.

Former North Dakota defenseman Matt Greene broke his ankle. The video isn't for the squeamish.

Lammy is off to a pretty good start so far for the Sioux. However, if sportsmanship is indeed a factor in the selection process for the Hobey Lammy is out of the running.

T.J. Hensick was supposedly ruled out for lack of sportsmanship due to comments he made after Michigan was eliminated by the Sioux in the NCAA's. Lammy's antics go well beyond comments made by TJ.

Too many other Sioux players are more deserving anyway. Porter too for the Blue.

Speaking of sportsmanship, is Greene the one that speared Paukovich in the groin?

Greene was one of the dirtiest I've ever seen. I've never seen someone blatantly kick someone before on the ice until I saw UND play Duluth.

Prpich speared Greene in the groin.

Sorry, Prpich speared Paukovich in the groin.

Ummm.. UND waited 20 years between Hobeys. We won't win another until 2027. I also think that Lammy has too much talent around him defensively to warrant the Hobey. If he had UND's offense and MSUM's defense, then maybe.

I didn't watch TJ play, but sportsmanship aside, there were many who thought TJ would win it anyways. It's too early in the season for Hobey talk really anyways.

Greene's action that one time was pretty vicious, I'll grant you that. However, he's not the dirtiest player around. If he was, then just about everyone would be dirty. I know Wheeler couldn't help where he was sliding, but he could have lowered his skate so he didn't slice Tormey's wrist, couldn't he? I suppose that makes him dirty. UMN has a tendency to run goaltenders. I suppose that makes them dirty.

Every player has their dark moment. Greene's kick and Prpich's spear were dark moments. That being said, COUNTLESS fans from other teams wished they had them on their team when the chips were down. Remember: Matt Greene originally intended to go to Michigan State.

Regardless though: 1. Matt Greene's college eligibility is up. 2. I don't give a damn who it is, it's never kosher to feel good when a player gets injured.

That's my opinion anyways.

Total NCAA commitments = 425
(Chris's list shows more, but, to be fair, I only chose players who I can find evidence actually showed up at the school via stats or a roster)

Total Number of players who played four years of NCAA Div 1 hockey= 260

%= 61% (rounded up). Call it graduation, or whatever you like. Only 61% of the players who started, finished their NCAA Div 1 hockey careers. They may or may not have received a degree.

Players who didn't make it past the first year= 61

Players who didn't make it pas the second year = 100 (61+39)

These players never saw NCAA Div 1 hockey again. Can we call this the NCAA's 'scarp yard'. Are these guys serving fries?

It's ridiculous to argue that Wheeler who was pulled down from behind aimed at Tormey. You act like this was a sixty second luge ride rather than half-second reaction play. Once a skater is on his back, how's he supposed to see where his skates are going to end up or where the goalies wrist is, via periscope? For that matter how is he supposed to control himself and the defenseman who pulled him down while sliding on ice?

More classy commentary from Susie.
