NTDP Season Starts

The two NTDP teams both got their seasons underway this weekend.

The U17 team won Friday and lost Saturday to St. Louis.

The U18 team beat the Chicago Steel of the USHL 3-2. Chicago looks like they have a much more talented team this season, despite a couple OHL defections late this summer.

I happened to catch the 2nd half of the game came to watch 17's, impressed with strong bunch of 17's ,agree with previous post thought reddin was impressive.

It's hard to tell from just 2 games, but the strength of the 17s seems to be their balance so far. They won't have to rely on a few select players to carry the scoring load this year.

By looking at this years NAHL rosters many of the top players have moved on.

The u 18s won a good come from 2 down game . The scoring should be spread out again like last year .The power play has to be effective to win big games this year

I had a chance to watch the u17's in the Saturday contest. This group looks strong from top to bottom.
I would say that they are quite a bit better than last years u17 team.

#10 had 4 penalty minutes and no points! What game were you watching?

FYI a good team, like a good player has to be strong in all areas of the game. If a player is valued only by the points, then there would be no need for the other 50-75% of the team. Watching the game and knowing what you are looking for is the difference between a spectator and someone who knows a little more about the game.

FYI: Do you remember what put team USA on the power play that set up the power play goal(winning goal). #10 drew the penalty with an individual offensive play

Well, that comment about last years U17 team is looking true to form.
This year, now the U18 team is just trying to remain competitive at this years showcase tournament. They beat Texas 3-1 (a game wherein they were outshot), then lose to Fairbanks (another game where they were outshot.
Just for comparison, a year ago, the U18s at the same tournament started off by beating Texas 11-1 and then blasting North Iowa 8-0.

10 x 87 birthyear, 6 x 88 birthyear and 2 x 89 birthyear. They tie game with 2 man advantage then go to shootout! Aren't they special.
