St. Cloud lost assistant coach Fred Harbinson to Penticton of the BCHL. Harbinson will take over as head coach and vice president of hockey operations. He replaces coach Bruno Campese, who will be taking over as head coach of Prince Albert in the WHL.

Michigan Tech sent out a release yesterday saying that incoming freshman Casey Pierro-Zabotel is a partial qualifier and won't join the Huskies until mid-December at the earliest. It's definitely a disappointment for Michigan Tech fans, but I think it's admirable that Pierro-Zabotel is willing to work to play college hockey, rather than taking the easier way and going to the WHL.

The Boys Select 14 Festival is going on right now in Rochester, New York. It's all 1993 birthdates, so I don't know too much about them. Minnesotans don't participate in this event. Danny Elser of Shattuck-St. Mary's is the leading scorer so far. Texan Colin Jacobs is supposed to be one of the big names in this group, and he has 3 goals so far. Californian Rocco Grimaldi, who played for Little Caesar's '92 team last year, has 2 goals. Hockey in Wisconsin reports that Notre Dame was there evaluating the very top players, and some other colleges should be joining them. There's also a big NTDP and CHL presence at the camp.

Casey, WAKE-Up and go to the WHL. It's just Mich Tech.

WHL fans a bit jealous that Casey values an education, perhaps?

Yeah, god forbid he'd like to have an education just in case this hockey thing doesn't work out.

Yeah the hockey thing doesn't work out for players 95% of time after age 28. I don't know how many CHLers are out there maing minimum wage being bouncers at the hometown tavern.

So What happened to Eddie Neville at BGSU, Greg Barrett at UNeb-Om or Steven Balint At NMU. Jordan Tibbett former MSU recuit. I'm just wondering since all College players get an Education.

Another thing I find funny is how the pro-WHL crowd feels the need to troll an NCAA blog. It's almost like they have nothing better to do with their time.

Casey has partially qualified, so he just needs to tie up some loose ends. I trust that he will be ready to skate for MTU in mid-December and hit the books during the spring semester.
