Okposo Stays; Carman Suspended

Minnesota released two press releases today.

The first said that Gopher forward Michael Carman will not play for the first semester next season. The release doesn't say, but it's likely for an academic reason.

Better news for Minnesota fans is that Kyle Okposo will be returning to Minnesota.

Bariball Wheeler Okposo might not be Duncan Oshie Toews; but its not too bad.

..and yes I realize the Gophers probably wouldn't put three right handers on the same line, but its still tight to think about.

Okposo, we know you are only coming back because the Islanders didn't think you were ready yet; but we'll take it!!!!

Is there a chance that Mike Carman plays in the USHL for the first half of the season?

Since the issue is more than likely academically related, I'd say having him leave school/miss a lot of school time would be a bad idea.

I would not be so quick to pencil in Wheeler or Okposo into the lineup just yet. When/if the Islanders/Coyotes don't fill holes through free agency or lose someone they don't expect, they very well could come calling again.

Maybe a different situation completely, but Ryan Suter actually started going to classes in September before he signed...ever since then, I don't believe anybody will be back until they play that first game.

Give coach Lucia full credit. None of this "internal discipline" crap that Hackstool preaches.

How hard is it to maintain a 1.75 GPA? What a dumbass

A 1.75 GPA? Wow--that is tough indeed. Not much accountability for Goofers to see the inside of a class room. No wonder they want to go to the U. Kinda like und and internal discipline.

You mean like the discipline they show at North Dakota? Hakstol sure dished out the tough love on guys like Toews, Oshie, Bina, Finley, et al. They break the law and get what punishment from their coach? A slap on the wrist? Now that is what I call major discipline!

Let's be glad most schools don't follow the soft slaps on the hand that Hakstol gives his players for their indiscretions.
