3 Shattuck Players Head West

Former Shattuck-St. Mary's players Jason Horstman, Jeff Smith, and Ryan Forgaard will all be playing for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL.

There has been a nice Shattuck to Salmon Arm pipeline over the years. Last year, SCSU recruits Brian Volpei and Tony Mosey went to Salmon Arm after leaving Shattuck and each had a nice season.

Best of luck to these three as they work towards earning a college scholarship.

A nice pipeline indeed: Blues coach Andy Murray, the former Shattuck prep coach, has ownership interest in Salmon Arm, so Shattuck guys are often among players invited to their tryout camps.

My bad, Murray sold his stake in the team to Randy Williams, another Shattuck guy. Actually there are four Shattuck guys that made the team.

Mark Morikawa played on the same U-16 team at SSM with Fordgaard, Horstman and Smith two years ago, but played with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks this year. He returned to Faribault when the season was over to graduate with his friends.
