Something Completely Different

Alaska is still going through the process of finding their next head coach. Over the next couple weeks, the four finalists will all go to Fairbanks for formal interviews. That's not all that weird. But what is really different is that all four candidates will be meeting with the public for an hour on the second day of their interview.

I have to say that I've never heard of the public meeting coaching candidates before they're hired for a job. I think it's a nice gesture on the part of Fairbanks to keep the community involved in the process.

Maybe that's because you're not used to small time athletics =P I know another university that has done the same thing when searching for a head football coach.

UAF has done a spectacularly good job of communicating with the public all through the hiring process. AD Karr should get credit for that.

Now I'm going to go wash my keyboard out with soap because saying so left a bad taste in it.

UAF has done a state directed search. They are going through the Due dilligence to make sure they hire the right candidate. A real bright move by a young AD.
