NTDP Roster Additions

The Scouting News reported last week that Detroit Honeybaked forward Kevin Lynch and Team Illinois defenseman Sam Calabrese will be playing for the NTDP next season.

Lynch was a third round OHL draft pick of the Plymouth Whalers, recently. Redline Report's Kyle Woodlief was a fan of Lynch saying:
Kevin Lynch/RC - Honeybaked. Underrated pivot is a coach's dream. Does whatever is needed to win. Rarely loses an important face-off. Great penalty killer and has more skill than he's given credit for. Scores big goals.
Calabrese played last year with Team Illinois Midget Major team. He is already committed to Notre Dame for the 2009 season. Calabrese would be the 8th defenseman on the NTDP team.

I realize that they were the #1 U16 Midget program in the country, but how in the hell does Honeybaked get 6 players on that team?! The total of the remaining U16 Midget teams total 3 players. U18 Midget teams contribute 5 more. Prep schools add 2, while high schools contribute only 1 so far.

I think more honeybaked players made it this year because they has so many out-of-state players on it this past year. Shore (colorado), Brown (Texas), and Valek (Utah/Croatia) were all out of towners. Only Ryan, Fowler, and Lynch were from Michigan.

I agree, honeybaked pushes their players and recruits nationwide, most they have not developed as they changed coaches 6 times(3 within one year) in those players development years. HONEYBAKED JUST RECRUITS bottomline! Youth hockey has become a game with in a game. You best bet is to play for a team that will develop your player though out his career as a youth hockey player and not subject your talented athlete to the out of state recruitment chopping block
