New Recruits

Eden Prairie HS senior Dan Vranek has committed to New Hampshire. Vranek is kind of interesting in that he's originally from Florida, but moves up to Eden Prairie for the winter to play hockey. He's a speedy, talented player, though Chris Heisenberg has him listed as starting college next fall, which is a huge jump.

Chicago Steel goalie Rob Madore committed to Vermont for 2008. Madore has played pretty well for an awful Chicago team. His numbers aren't spectacular, but much better than Colorado College recruit Richard Bachman's while he was with the Steel, and much better than his current back-up Pat McGann, who was an NHL draft pick.

Congratulations to Dan Vranek. Have seen him play a number of times, most recently at the Great 8, and felt he would be a good 4 year college player someday. A little surprised that he will be coming in next year - seems like a very big jump for a player his size and thought he could use at least one year in juniors. I am surprised that he was taken over a couple of other "smaller" players that I thought stood out more in the Great 8. But good for him!

Both Bachman and McGann were drafted by the Stars...and Madore has been consistently better than both all year. Congrats to him.

so when do we get the official david toews commitment to und?

Does David Toews want to wait until 2009 to play for UND? Because UND looks pretty full at forward for 2008 even if Oshie and Duncan decide to leave. Maybe the younger Toews doesn't want to wait that long?
