Commitment News

There's been a lot of new commitments since I last updated. Here's a rundown of some of the major ones.

Defenseman Ryan Little committed to Wisconsin for 2008. Little is a Wisconsin native that has been playing for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL. He's described as an excellent skater.

I had mentioned before Christmas that Vermont wasn't done recruiting for next season, and they picked up Chicago(USHL) defenseman Dan Lawson. Lawson is a big, physical type defenseman.

You don't see a lot of player commit straight from the Midget Major level, but Victory Honda forward Colin Lidster committed to Quinnipiac. Lidster is 6'4" and 210 lbs., so he's a very big forward. He's the son of NHLer Doug Lidster, who is helping coach for Victory Honda. Miami had also shown some interest in Lidster.

Ohio State picked up two very nice commitments for next year's class. The first is C.J. Severyn, who was one of the few remaining uncommitted players on the NTDP U18 team. Severyn probably won't be a superstar at the college level, but I think he'll be a very solid player. The other is Alpena(NAHL) forward Todd Rudasill. I think Rudasill is one of the most talented players in the NAHL this season, and should be another solid player at the college level.

Ferris State got a commitment from LaRonge(SJHL) forward Jordie Johnson. I can't tell you much, other than that LaRonge is French for "The Ronge".

Colorado College got a commitment from Stephen Schultz who is having a very nice year for Lincoln in the USHL.

Benilde-St. Margaret's forward Adam Estoclet committed to Dartmouth. Estoclet is a nice goal-scorer who has made some huge strides in the past couple months.

Coach Doug Lidster, is also Director of Hockey Operations for Victory Honda AAA Hockey. A very good developer of players. Good luck to Colin!

Kind of the opposite of commitment, but sadly Mitch Ryan has left the UMD team. Sad to see him go. I put the article on my blog, unfortunately the Duluth News Tribune requries registration to pull up the link.

Do you have any information if "Red" Berenson has lost any of his #1 prized recruits? I like the fact that "Red" always gets the best recruited class each year! Hail to the Victors!

I think Quinnipiac got a steal in Lidster. He will prove to be a great pick up.
