Many people thought that recent success, as well as a beautiful new arena would really help bolster Miami's recruiting, and that would seem to be true.
According to Chris Heisenberg, Miami got a commitment from Team Illinois defenseman Steve Spinell. Spinell is a late '90 birthdate that is playing with TI's Midget Major team this season. The earliest he would join the Redhawks would be 2009.
He's a 6' 190 lbs. defenseman that is also an excellent skater. I would assume that he will play in the USHL next season. As of earlier this fall, Spinell had also drawn interest from Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

Not a huge suprise Miami gets 1/4 of their student body from North Shore Chicago.
He'll only play in the Ushl if his rights are traded from Ohio. If not he'll be back in midget at TI.
It sad when you are better off in midget than on a bad JR A team.
