John Lee Commits to Denver

John Lee, a defenseman from Moorhead, Minnesota, and the brother of North Dakota defenseman Brian Lee, has committed to Denver for 2008.

Lee will play at Moorhead HS this year, and then likely play a full year in the USHL next season. His playing style is somewhat similar to his brother, though he's probably not quite as talented as Brian is. He's still a very good player though, and a nice pick-up for the Pioneers.

I was hoping that was the deal, you think he would want to follow his brother to UND. DU breaks up another brother combination. I remember they Jessie Bull's younger brother too.

Perhaps it was deliberate to escape playing in his brother's shadow.

John Lee will be playing this season (& next season?) for Waterloo in the USHL.

I think its a great pickup for the Pioneers.

Max Bull shot the slapshot that deflected over Parise to eliminate UND from the 2004 NCAA Tourney in Colorado Springs. But then UND fans already knew that.

On the news in Fargo, they said he had been talking to UND. One of the reasons for going to DU was to be our of Brian's shadow.

John is playing for Waterloo right now, but I'm almost positive that he'll be going back to Moorhead for the HS hockey season, and then probably finish up the season for Waterloo once HS hockey is done.

hey DU...you know what else und fans know...that du gets a lot of crap breaks with crap goals, but hey, DU fans already knew that...i would much rather get lucky deflections than score legit goals.

I watch a lot of Moorhead Hockey and Jon isn't on the same level is Brian. However, it's great for Jon that he's getting a WCHA scholarship from a very good program. Also, it's very good for Moorhead Hockey as we now have Lee and VandeVelde with the Sioux, Gifford with Denver, Ammerman with St. Cloud, and then we'll have Jon in Denver and Jordy Christian in St. Cloud....but still no state titles :-(
