University of Minnesota goaltender Kellen Briggs has been suspended for three games, according to a university press release today.(via GPL) The release stated it was for "a violation of team rules".
Briggs will miss this Friday's game against Maine, and next weekend's series against Wayne State. Sophomore Jeff Frazee will likely get the starting nod instead. Briggs was named the Gophers starter last week at the Gophers media day. Briggs is one of the Gophers alternate captains this season.

Hum, I wonder what these rule violations might be?
Do the Gophers have a third goalie?
If not, they really better pray Frazee doesn't end up injured in the first game.
Not what you would expect of a captain before the season even starts.
Wasn't Winchester a captain for Wisconsin when he got arrested? UND had a captain get picked up for suspected DUI a couple of years ago. Not that uncommon.
Walk-on Brent Solei will be the Gophers back-up goalie this weekend.
It is surprising Briggs was named captain, since in the article, Lucia said he knew about this for a while. Okay.
If this is related to the Blarney's affair, I thought the whole thing had been swept under the rug with the NCAA's blessings.
