Toews and Tessier

One of the first big stories we had on here last year, that helped a lot of people find this site, was the story about David Toews and Kelsey Tessier being kicked out of Shattuck-St. Mary's for alledgedly cheating, and heading to the Colorado Rampage AAA team play.

Tessier has decided to forego college hockey and will be playing for the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. Quebec is the team coached/owned by former goalie Patrick Roy, and has earned a reputation for finding ways to get top players onto his team, similar to what the Hunter's have done in London.

His best friend, David Toews, has been re-admitted to Shattuck-St. Mary's and has been skating with their team. It seems almost guaranteed that Toews will end up following the college route, and will most likely end up continuing the Toews legacy at North Dakota.

Toews will be a high school junior this season.

Toews will be an '09 with Danny Kristo. I think the Sioux had their sights set on Tessier as well.

By 2009 the Sioux will start sweating out Toews' departure to the pros. He'll be a 2008 at the latest. If he were to accelerate, he could still be a 2007.

Anyone heard much about David's playing style? I heard he wasn't as flashy as Jonathon... Is he a top recruit or just a brother of a top recruit? Is he first round potential or what?

Not as good as his brother, but a middle rounder. I would give him 4 out of five stars if I ranked him. I thought Tessier was much better and had better upside than the younger Toews.

"Flashy as Jonathon" Ummm...Jon Toews isn't flashy. An excellent two-way player and finisher-yes. but flashy? no

Ive seen David play and he's alot better the Johnathan. More Fluestic skating, more finsese, and faster. But Johnathan has more flashy stick skills. For David that will come.
