Recruiting News

Nebraska-Omaha picked up two more commitments for 2007. Defenseman Quinn Waller and forward Joey Martin both committed to the Mavericks. Waller and Martin are teammates on the Aurora Tigers of the OPJHL. Aurora has been a pipeline for Omaha. Goalie Jeremie Dupont played for Aurora, as well as forward Anthony Peluso, who ultimately decided to play in the OHL.

Northern Michigan got a commitment from Charlie Smith, who plays for Belle Tire Midget Major. Smith is an '89 birthdate that played for Belle Tire's Midget Major team last year as well. Pointstreak has him as playing 30 games and scoring 19 points last year. He's a 2008 recruit, so he'll play a year of juniors next year before heading to Marquette.

Finally, this is totally unrelated, but I can't pass it up. Tyler Swystun has already surpassed his career total in points at Michigan within his first two games in Medicine Hat. Tyler has 3 goals and 2 assists in his first two games in the WHL, which puts him tied for second in league scoring. I think Michigan will miss him this year, but it's good to see he's landed on his feet.
