Way Too Easy

Some of you may have wondered why, in my last post, I was skeptical about the report from Sid Hartman and Charley Walters about Phil Kessel definitely coming back to school. I mean, afterall, Walters has that cool nickname, and Hartman has been in the news business for years, first gaining notoriety for his groundbreaking coverage of the XYZ Affair. So why exactly would I doubt these two guys? Oh yeah, this:

"That's not the case," said Kessel, reached at his Wisconsin home, when asked about two Minnesota-based newspaper reports that had him committing to a second season with the Gophers. "I don't know where that came from."

I could probably tell you where it came from, but it would require a sigmoidoscopy. At least the the two Twin Cities papers still provide hundreds of dollars of coupon savings fun every Sunday.

True that Hartman and Walters aren't exactly reliable, but that Boston Globe article had Kessel pegged for over 80 points this year in the NCAA should he return.

In other news, based on those projections, I'm expecting Ross Carlson to score 50-60.

80 points probably isn't realistic. It's only been done 3 times in the past 9 years(Sejna, Panzer, Krog).

Plus, Phil only gets two games(four if you count the playoffs) against Anchorage this year. 16 of his 51 points came in 6 games against Anchorage last season.
