Friday Night Thoughts

Wisconsin got their first win post-Elliott injury. I think now that they've got a win under their belt, things will get back to normal for them. Playing a struggling Duluth team doesn't hurt either. The Bulldogs could finish the season in 9th place.

Scott Parse scored a first round knockout in the quest for best CCHA Hobey Candidate over Jeff Jakaitis as Omaha won 8-0 last night. The Mavericks are playing like an NCAA tournament team. Even though Parse had two goals last night, his second goal, and first power play goal of the season, was a meaningless 8th goal, or as I like to call it, a Kessel.

An excerpt from Michigan Tech's radio broadcast 18 minutes into the third period last:

"So far for Tech in the third period it's been zero goals on.........one shot? One Goddamn shot?

You can't say that on the radio.

Who cares? Nobody's listening."

Ohio State won a wild game over Michigan by a score of 7-5. Billy Sauer struggled in net again and some defensive breakdowns led to the Buckeye goal explosion.

That loss, combined with LSSU's loss means I have nothing interesting to write about Miami again, even though Alaska-Fairbanks knocked them off 4-3 last night. Miami's good, they're gonna win the league. Not much else to say.

North Dakota bounced back from being swept last weekend to win in Colorado Springs. The Sioux are going to have to stop winning games or they may just end up at home for the first round of the playoffs, which just might be the last place they want to be.

St. Cloud State is playing like a team that wants to make the NCAA tournament, and well, rather un-St. Cloud-like in the second half of the season.They hung on to an early lead and took care of business against Alaska-Anchorage. The Seawolves have still never won in the National Hockey Center.

Michigan State also took care of business in South Bend. They need to complete the sweep tonight and prove they can play a full weekend of solid hockey.
