Colorado College has been in a bit of a freefall lately, and things got worse today when they had to dismiss forward Aaron Slattengren from the team and the school. A reason for the dismissal wasn't given, but the article seems to indicate that Slattengren was possibly involved in some sort of academic dishonesty.
It's a tough situation for Slattengren, who was a senior, and for the Tigers who lose a talented hard-working forward that had scored quite a few goals in his Colorado College career.
The Tigers may also be without starting goalie Matt Zaba down the stretch as he tweaked his knee in last Friday's win over St. Cloud State. Zaba tested the knee out in warm-ups on Saturday, but couldn't go, forcing back-up Chris Kawano to start in goal. Zaba will try and skate again later this week, but if he can't go, the Tigers could be in serious trouble in net. Kawano looked good on Saturday against St. Cloud, but doesn't have much experience in net. He was the victim of the Wisconsin blowout loss, and other than that, only has three garbage time appearances to his name.
CC's other option in net is the highly recruited freshmen Drew O'Connell who has struggled in road games against Denver and Alaska-Anchorage earlier in the season, before being relegated to the third-string.
