Updates have been sparse with the holiday, as they should be. Anyway, a few notes of interest.
Aaron Palushaj is a Wolverine. Michigan gets a pretty good goal-scorer from their own backyard in Southeastern Michigan. Apparently Palushaj was instrumental in helping convince teammate Trevor Lewis to come to Michigan too. Palushaj has also been duly moved to the 2007 board.
Ryan McLeod is no longer a Nanook. That's a huge loss for the Nooks. McLeod was one of the better goal-scoring second line centers in the league. McLeod has been in trouble before, getting suspended for a series in both of his years at UAF. It sounds as though McLeod made the final decision to leave UAF, but I'm guessing he was having a tough time making things work with coach Tavis McMillan.
Team USA dominated Norway in their first World Juniors Test. Bourque, Kessel, and Porter all put up big numbers.
Team USA is also rolling through the Viking Cup, beating Slovakia 8-4, and Germany 7-2. They should probably roll through this tournament. The two toughest challenges should be the AJHL teams, and with the AJHL splitting into two teams, I don't think either has the ability to compete with the US.
Duluth smacked around Maine last night in Florida. After giving up a goal 13 seconds in, the Dogs pretty much shut down the Black Bears. They'll face Cornell next.
