With the way the Gophers took it to Michigan, I'd say it is pretty safe to say that Michigan doesn't deserve to be ranked higher at this stage. Nobody in their right mind could walk away from watching that game Friday night thinking Michigan is better. However, we have to remember who writes this blog.
You could say the same thing about Fairbanks and Minnesota.
Last weekend, Minnesota was much better than Michigan, but over the course of the season, Michigan has played much better than Minnesota has.
As one guy posted weeks ago, the poll should reflect where a team is now. No way is Michigan better than Minnesota. Neither is UAF. UAF caught the Gophers early when they had not found their bearings. Michigan was the supposed #1 team and they got dusted on their home rink by the Gophers. Certainly a bigger whipping than anything the Gophers have endured in their games. Michigan is overated. Their schedule hasn't exactly been a killer either. Put them in the WCHA and they would be fighting for home ice.
However, we have to remember who writes this blog.
