With the holidays approaching, I thought it would be good to hold another Western College Hockey Blog contest.
I've come up with a fun little contest in light of recent events. We all know that two weeks ago, a group of Minnesota hockey players were caught on tape breaking the law and NCAA rules. Since then, Gopher hockey fans have made it very clear to everyone that the people that reported the story were the ones at fault, and that the Gopher hockey players were, in the words of head coach Don Lucia, "violated".
With that in mind, I'm asking the legion of blog readers out there, what exactly would a Gopher hockey player have to get caught doing before Minnesota fans would actually blame the player?
All responses should be emailed to me, using the email address at the top of the page. The best will be selected for an upcoming post. Be warned though; all entries are subject to Gopher fan-esque cross examination such as "everyone knows that those DNA tests are only 99% accurate" or "clearly she was strangling herself."

While it is obvious you enjoy giving Gopher fans the needle, isn't this taking it a bit too far? Almost to the point of sour grapes. I enjoy your info maize, but not your perspective.
yeah, heaven forbid you criticize or poke fun at a gopher, they are college hockey's version of the pope, infallible in all things, not to be questioned, above questioning.
I would guess that most Gopher fans think the criticism about some of the Gopher players drinking is a bit hollow because most college fans realistically know this kind of behavior happens all over the place. If you doubt this kind of behavior doesn't happen in many other programs, all you have to do is seek out some of the Facebook profiles of various college hockey players around the country and you'll see plenty of messages related to how they were out partying. The only difference is most of these other programs aren't in a major media market and nobody cares enough to investigate whether or not they are drinking.
Everybody knows the agenda Maize has. This entry in his blog should come as no surprise nor should it really upset any Gopher fan because these kinds of remarks are pretty status quo for him. It is sort of a cliche at this point.
This is completely unbiased. The day Bowling Green fans start blaming the media/the NCAA/the second shooter on the grassy knoll/the Illuminati/Bill Clinton for their players' indiscresions, they'll get their own contest too.
Whoa there buddy. That's plagarism. I am the one who cracked the DNA joke, and the one about the girl strangling herself. I think I had one other one, but that probably wasn't as funny. I also told you that you'd get crap for posting this. Just goes to show you that I am always right. :D
I guess that's the price you pay when you're the only Division 1 sport on campus.
Wow, this really proves that ann Arbor was a great party town! You have educated gophers , Mich coaches, what next? I think there is a trend here!
